Fraxel laser (Re:pair, Thulium/Re:store)

Exceptional results with no lifting or scalpel!

The Fraxel laser uses thermocoagulation, a technique that renews the skin by suppressing damaged cells.

By stimulating collagen production, Fraxel laser resurfacing fills and smoothes wrinkles, fine lines, scars and other imperfections. Because it is so precise, it is an ideal treatment on small surface areas such as the face, neck, arms, abdomen or legs.

Fraxel laser uses two different wavelengths: Thulium and Erbium. During a session, the practitioner can use either separately or both successively.

Exceptional improvement of your skin today…means no surgery tomorrow

The Fraxel re:pair laser treatment is a totally revolutionary approach to aging and damaged skin repair. Unlike other skin smoothing procedures, with Fraxel re:pair, there are no long periods of convalescence nor any unforeseen reactions.

Fraxel re:pair is a very efficient non-surgical procedure that firms the skin and erases signs of aging. It softens skin and quickly smoothes even the deepest wrinkles.

By firming the skin, Fraxel re:pair protects against sagging skin that occurs over time. It literally erases signs of aging for a long time!

It is the safest and most efficient replacement solution to surgical methods.

If you want the relaxed look of your youth back, this safe and revolutionary solution yields impressive results!

What does the treatment involve?

Anesthetic cream is applied 60 to 90 minutes before the treatment and removed just before the procedure.

A quick and efficient treatment to soften wrinkles, scars, and spots

Length of a session: 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Frequency: 1 treatment will usually suffice and yields impressive results.

The Fraxel re:pair treatment was designed to be adaptable. Dr. Charbonneau will set up a personalized treatment plan that takes your desired results into account.

Is it painful?

Fractional skin resurfacing is a quick and gentle procedure. Anesthetic cream is applied before treatment to ensure the patient’s comfort.

Are there side effects?

Immediately after treatment, you will feel like you have a sunburn and your skin will be a bit red and swollen. The swelling could last for 2 to 3 days, and the redness for 5 to 10 days. When the redness dissipates, the skin will then look tanned for a few days.

A moisturizing sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) is recommended during the convalescence period. Make-up can be worn after 5 to 7 days. Usually, patients return to their normal activities one week after treatment.

What results can I expect?

Fraxel’s fractional laser eliminates damaged cells and stimulates the skin’s natural regeneration process. It is particularly effective in diminishing acne or post-surgery scars.

Whether on the face or elsewhere on the body, Fraxel re:pair offers maximum safety and fast healing.

Treatment yields immediate results and Fraxel re:pair’s effects continue for up to six months after treatment because it stimulates the production of collagen.

You look younger with every passing day and your secret will never be revealed!

The optimal effect will be visible for 2 to 3 months after the procedure.

After 3 to 5 sessions, visible results are:

  • Softening of fine lines
  • Firming of the skin
  • Reduction of pore size
  • Reduction or elimination of brown spots
  • Brightening of the skin, making it noticeably radiant

To look as young on the outside as you feel on the inside

What skin conditions can Fraxel re:pair correct?

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Scars caused by acne, surgery or accidents
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Spots and pigmented lesions: solar lentigo, melasma, age spots
  • Sun-related redness (dyschromia)
  • Stretch marks

Dr. Roy Geronemus, a New York based dermatologist who has contributed to the development of Fraxel technology, and Dr. Charbonneau, cosmetic dermatology specialist, through years of clinical experience agree; the Thulium laser helps reduce fine lines and superficial acne scars.

The Thulium laser is a very precise Fraxel technology that treats the dermis, the superficial layer of the skin where most, but not all, brown spots appear. It is important to get a diagnosis from a skin specialist, a dermatologist.

Thulium is a cosmetic dermatologist’s best friend. It is one of Dr. Charbonneau’s preferred lasers because it erases benign brown spots and Actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions on the skin) or even makes them disappear. It has been recognized as such by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2010.

The Thulium Fraxel re:store laser helps reduce or erase brown spots and pigment lesions. It eliminates damaged cells, brightening the skin and making it much more radiant than photorejuvenation or photodynamic therapy can by themselves.

What does the treatment involve?

Anesthetic cream is applied 60 to 90 minutes prior to treatment and removed just before the procedure.

Length of session: 30 to 60 minutes per treated area.

Since each session repairs and regenerates 20 to 25% of the skin in general, 3 to 5 sessions are required to yield optimal results. Depending on skin type, some conditions may necessitate as few as 2 treatments while others may require up to 6.

Frequency: 3 to 5 sessions, 3 to 4 weeks apart.

Recuperation: Women can use make-up or any other beauty product on the treated area and men can shave immediately after a session.

Are there side effects?

Immediately after treatment, the skin will be somewhat red and swollen. Other side effects, such as an itchy rash, peeling skin, or a tanned look could also occur. Dr. Charbonneau will advise as to what type of skin care is required to minimize these effects.

What can I expect?

Thulium Fraxel re:store resurfacing can be done on the entire face or only on the most damaged areas, like around the mouth or the eyes.

The superficial wavelength:

  • Softens fine lines
  • Reduces the size of pores
  • Softens or eliminates brown spots
  • Brightens the skin

What skin conditions can Thulium Fraxel re:store correct?

  • Spots and pigmented lesions
  • Skin that has been damaged by time or exposure to the sun
  • Dilated pores
